Alla Ma is an Australian singer/songwriter, whose work is deeply influenced by her rich musical background and her mothers immersion in Melbournes underground punk scene. Busking as early as three years old on the streets of Melbourne with her mother music has been engrained in her youth. She is known for her distinctive soulful, raw and edgy writing style reflected in both her vocals and performance.
Alla Ma’s rollercoaster background as given her an insatiable curiosity and drive to explore the human emotion through her songwriting. The pursuit of truth in her music has produced an artist who is unafraid to bare her soul. Creating songs that are powerful and intimate.
Her audiences are often captivated by the invitation to look within themselves through the lens of her words and music. Significantly influenced by her mother’s raw talent and musicianship, Alla Ma’s artistic inspirations are diverse. In her earlier years, these included the likes of Patti Smith, Joan Armatrading, Beatles, Janis Joplin, Toni Childs, and David Bowie. More recently, she has drawn inspiration from all genres including Mazzy Star, Missy Higgins, Amy Winehouse, Porangui and Emiliana Torini. Her music bursts with originality fusing a blend of punk, Indi, folk, and soul creating a genre uniquely her own, she has referred to as PIFS (Punk Indie Folk Soul). Alla Ma’s Career began working with the Australian Songwriter Association (ASA) in the early 2000’s and performing at numerous venues across Perth including the Leederville Hotel, Mojos Bar, RedRock Hotel and Gypsy Taphouse. Currently she performs in the Southwest at venues such as Settlers Tavern, Cowaramup Servo Taphouse, Marritree in Witchcliffe. Over 20 years in the music Industry Alla has honed her songwriting skills now possessing a catalogue of over 60 songs. Her song “they call me Crazy” was 8th international finalist for MIFA (mental illness of Foundation of Australia).
Alla Ma is now embarking on a journey to produce and showcase her art and share it with the world. She now continues to embark on a journey to write, perform, and pursue her music with the ambition of bringing it to the world stage.
